This is a list for the sort of movie fan that makes a clear verbal distinction between 'films' and 'movies'. Do well-known and familiar plot devices instantly make your eyes roll? Are there overused plot devices that you would like the see banished forever? Do your favorite flicks tend to criss-cross genres? Then this is a list just for you...

nice list and interesting concept - tho I think some of these are more Adventure than Action (particularly the Jarmusch films). Just added 3 more films to my Netflix Q from this :)

Clark, thanks for such a big complement. I'm not actively trying to indoctrinate people, but for some reason it's nice to hear from those of my own ilk. ;-)

Love "Oldboy," though not sure if I'd really consider it an action/adventure. More like a psychological thriller, I'd think. But definitely a great flick.

Oh, and "No Country" should be higher. But overall, great list!

Merci, Lons! I think that 'Oldboy' is one of those films that crosses genres, back and forth, all the way through. It's a loose cannon that is tightly wound! In my opinion...

I think you may be right about 'No Country'. I'll have to revisit the list order.

Absolutely have to agree with 'Oldboy'. That was one of the few I that I had to turn off and just absorb after seeing it for the first time.

Did you know they are doing an American remake (yes...another one) starring Josh Brolin?

OMG! An American remake??? Wow, I have no idea how they are going to approach some of that subject matter.

Agreed! Here's hoping they take it seriously! :)
