The Best Hood Movies

A list of the best hood movies. Hood films began appearing in the late 80's and early 90's with the most widely known example being "Boyz n the Hood". More recently though they have fallen out of favor, as the films were falling into cliche's, being parodied, and even garnering criticism for promoting stereotypes. That said, the early hood films were classics and are a testament to top quality film making. Hood films deal with urban african american culture, and frequently with the plight of growing up in that type of environment.
