what can they offer on a console? between the wii and the game cube the only thing that changed was the interface of using a a handheld to guide the game, something both the ps3 and 360 have both done as well, the only thing that nintendo can do now is release handhelds, why do you think its pouring everything it has into these "DS" systems? the wii is able to sell as much as it does simply because it cannot offer anything else, i am in no way bashing what nintendo is capable of however, they can open up a whole new war of handheld consoles instead of its annihilating just the PS3. you must really be a moron if you werent able to come to this conclusion, even nintendo knows it, they are debating whether or not to even release another system or simply convert the system into a handheld, i never expect much from people online, but comeon r*****, , the nintendo wii is c**p compared to the 360 and PS3 its a generation behind, sales may be up, but no ones is going buy a product that is no different then the one before it. sony, and microsoft both have hardware ideas for the next systems that would d*****y anything nintendo will do in the next 15 years at least that is the exchange im talking about which system is actually better, not which one sells more because the average gamer is a prepubescent little punk. now sit down and shut the h**l up

Yeah, they sold more Wii's for the same reason they're selling a ton of 3DS systems and they've always sold a lot of crap: kids are stupid, they want anything that comes out, and parents are dumb enough to buy them anything they want. I have a Wii, but I prefer to play my 360 and PS3 simply because while there are a few good Wii games the HD systems have better games, better graphics, and online multiplayer that isn't terrible.

Halo 1 2 and 3 are all the same storyline, finishing the fight. ODST (which even Halo fans admit should have been an expansion/side story, not a "full game) was just a side story, and Halo Reach is a prequel to all of that. Halo Wars doesnt count. Cod 1-3 were all the same, 4-6 got worse and worse, 7 bringing the bar back up to where 4 is. Overall though, they are similar because its what people like, and yet for the fans who want something different, they are actually different games. But the gameplay is the same, because people expect it to be. Nintendo does the same. Mario is so successfull for a reason. Pokemon is so successfull for a reason. They are staples in the gaming archives. As long as there are new generations of kids who like to game, there will be new pokemon, mario, and other games similar. And as long as there are teens/young adults that like to rage and compete, there will be FPS's. In the end, it becomes harder and harder to make something truly unique that will be pop**ar. The reason games like Halo could revolutionize a whole genre of gaming is because there wasnt anything else (hence the revolutionary idea). Its not like game developers can be constantly creating new things and bringing new things to the plate. Old ideas have to be remade at some point, but in more refined versions. The same argue fits VERY well with Pokemon. You look at the new pokemon, many people rage about them. Some say they look dumb, others say they copy old pokemon. That is because Nintendo is smart. They are aiming for mainly children, and then the fans who loved it from the start. They make each game so similar and release a new one every few years (1993 to 2011 = 18ish years? / 5 generations = 3-ish years per generation). They aim for kids that are young enough to be captured by it, and at the same time kids who are old enough to understand it and master it. So lets say its 10 (where have we heard that before... :P). That means maybe 7 year olds will be caught, and 13 year olds will have mastered it. So game A comes out. 10 year olds are perfect for it, 7 year olds are captured by its awesomeness, and 13 year olds MAY give it a try (probably hiding it from their friends). Then for the next 3 years, the 7 year olds grow to actually understand it. The 10 year olds have now mastered it, and the 13 year olds (now 16) have probably moved on. Game B comes out. A whole new batch of 7 year olds get caught. The 10 (once 7) year olds now understand the game, so they buy it, even though it is "new" pokemon, they can still keep up with it. And the masters (13 year olds) MAY decide to get the game. And the cycle continues.... This is why pokemon (or any generic games) are so repetative. They want players to have the same basic experience, while still feeling like they are playing something new and different. This is an incredibly hard thing to balance. For examples: Halo Reach and CoD Black Ops. Many old halo fans wont play reach because it is so different. Which is true, it is different. The developers wanted to do something different, and yet try to keep it "Halo". For some, the difference was too much. Black Ops is the opposite. I know people who wont play Black Ops because its so similar to the past games that its "boring" and the same stuff they have been doing for years. So the next time you think games are getting too generic or boring, try to see things from different points of view.
