This is the infamous show that all the TV execs said was impossible: the show about nothing. Yet these guys managed to pull it off for years. A very funny show that defies classification. What kind of sitcom is it? One of a kind.
  2. 2
John Ratzenberger, George Wendt, Kelsey Grammer More

One of the longest running sitcoms ever, Cheers set the gold standard for American sitcoms. After this show became a hit, every other network tried to come up with something that could pull ratings from it and failed. If you like Ted Danson on CSI, you'll love him on this classic sitcom. You may also recognize a much hairier Woody Harrlson before his shaved head action movie days. Kirstie Alley from the Star Trek movies was on this show for a while too. She and Shelley Long showed that pretty girls can be hilarious too. Some great acting on this show, both in funny and in dramatic scenes.

Mike Farrell, Loretta Swit, Jamie Farr More

The iconic sitcom/drama about the Korean War. Pretty much the only show about Korea besides the drama China Beach that I know of. This show has had one of the most successful syndications ever.
  4. 4
Keith Thibodeaux, Vivian Vance, Lucille Ball More

The classic sitcom that really broke new ground for comedies starring women. Lucille Ball was brilliant in this show. She and Desi Arnez were the king and queen of TV back in those days. They even went on to produce several other shows, including Star Trek.
  5. 5
Joseph C. Phillips, Lisa Bonet, Erika Alexander More

The first and one of the very few sitcoms starring a 'minority' family that was normal. The show was not about race and was rarely controversial. It was revolutionary in that it got that mix of realism and comedy right It was about Bill Cosby's family friendly comedy and it had some good acting too.

Patricia Heaton, Doris Roberts, Sullivan Sweeten More

There have been sitcoms about people who are doing a show within the show, but none as good as this one. So good in fact, that I know some people who actually tried to find Binford tools so they could buy them. Tim Allen was great in this show.
  9. 9
Dan Butler, Peri Gilpin, Kelsey Grammer More
    #12 on the ultimate list
This is one of the best spin-offs in the history of Sitcoms. Usually, spin-offs are terrible, but in some ways, this show was better than Cheers. And that's saying a lot. Some of the best writing in an American sitcom is in this show.
