Everyone knows the "twist" by now, but Bryan Singer and writer Christopher McQuarrie's debut still packs just as much a punch as ever, boasting some of the best "tough guy" dialogue in memory and an all-star cast of heavy hitters (from Pollak to Gabriel Byrne to Benicio del Toro to the late great Pete Posthlewaite to Oscar-winner Kevin Spacey.)

Not just the best film on Mr. Pollak's filmography, but one of the best films of the '90s, generally. Scorsese's look inside the history of Vegas gives us two great stories at once: the practical view of how organized crime's rise and fall in Nevada, and another gripping story of one man being undone by his pride and jealousy. Pollak's great too in a few scenes, particularly when he's viewing Sam "Ace" Rothstein's cheesy "talk show" in disbelief.

Pollak has a small role as the agent who's schtupping Steve Martin's girlfriend at the film's opening, but how could this brilliant send-up of life in Lalaland NOT make the list? More good one-liners and jokes at LA's expense than maybe any other film ever. (It's like a film-long version of that great scene in "Annie Hall" where Alvy comes to LA.)

How did this slice of genius get totally ignored in 2010? It's a really funny, surprising, exciting true story about some of the pioneers of Internet porn. (Don't worry...Pollak isn't involved in the porn sequences.) Worth seeing just for Luke Wilson's amazing comeback performance.

Again, Pollak isn't a featured player here, but this criminally-underrated indie comedy deserves a lot more love than it gets. Great turns from leads Gallo and Christina Ricci, and also Angelica Huston and Ben Gazzara as his unhinged parents. A movie that gets the funny-sad dynamic exactly right for once.
