These are the top 10 worst American cars of all time. This list spans multiple decades of horrible American cars and picks the true winners of the worst of all time contest. Some of these cars are so bad that even when they were initially unveiled everyone hated them. As a car manufacturer shouldn't you make sure your audience is going to like the vehicles you are releasing? Other cars on the list weren't quite so obvious at the beginning but the reason they belong on this list of the top 10 worst American cars became clear over time. For example the 1971 Ford Pinto was basically a rolling death trap. In an effort to save money on building costs Ford decided to skimp on the gas tank protection and so when the Pinto was hit in the back at any sort of speed the gas tank was prone to igniting and exploding turning the car into a fiery death trap. That sounds like exactly the car I would want to get. You would think Ford would have learned their lesson but instead they created the 1971 Mustang II which was essentially a re-badged Pinto. Did they think their customers were so stupid that they wouldn't realize their supposed "Sports Car" was actually a steaming pile of junk? Either way we hope these companies have learned their lessons otherwise maybe one of their new cars will make this list of the top ten worst American cars of all time.
