top 5 cinematographers By Jason Flinkstrom
Alright, so this may not be the 5 BEST cinematographers, but more like the top 5 that I enjoy watching the most.
Roger Deakins is by far one of the, if not singularly the, greatest cinematographers to grace film-making. It's a shame he hasn't won an oscar for his accomplishments.
John Toll directed The Thin Red Line, the film I consider to be the greatest accomplishment in cinematography to date, but lacks the over all resume of Deakins.
Lubezki, Storaro, and Kaminski are all 3rd place really. Each has done either a mass of great work and/or a film that stands out above the rest i.e. Apocalypse Now's cinematography outweighs Spielberg's films...
and that is that.
