Rocky
A movie that will inspire you to keep on going to achieve your goals. Rocky achieves a big goal in his life after one boxing match. Rocky feels he has achieved a sense of greatness by going the distance with Apollo, the champion, since no one else has ever been able to do so. Rocky didn't feel that he deserved the shot and felt that he shouldn't even contend with the champ. Rocky does end up doing the match, giving his best to make his accomplishments. Rocky inspires you to never give up on accomplishing the goals you have in life, to achieve what you define to be greatness.
This movie also portrays a theme of loneliness. The only friend Rocky really has is a guy named Paulie. Through his friendship with Paulie, Rocky is able to get closer to something else he wants in his life, a relationship with Paulie's sister Adriane. Rocky also notices how people around him change once he gets an important title shot with the champ. Even his trainer, Micky, gives him more attention once he hears the news. Rocky doesn't understand why people didn't believe in him more before, he feels like he wasn't important before. -

taxi driver
This is one of the most realistic movies that I've ever seen. This movie inspired me to never end up like the main character, whose name is Travis Bickle. Travis is a man who is completely alone in the world. Travis is also not sure of his purpose in life. These two discomforts in his life lead him to a point where he falls apart, puts his life in danger, but ends up feeling like a hero. The first ten or so times that I watched this movie was because I related to the character in many ways.
Taxi driver had become my favorite movie at a certain period of time in my life. It got to the point where I realized that this shouldn't be my favorite movie, because you don't want to relate entirely to Travis. You don't want to end up completely alone like him. However, there's a sense of hope that is felt for Travis at the end of the movie. The optimism that I felt for Travis once the movie was over, has led me to a more positive way of thinking in my everyday social interactions. -
Gojira
Gojira is the original Japanese version of Godzilla, also known in the U.S. as Godzilla: King of the Monsters. This is a movie with a very serious tone, as it talks about the destruction caused by the atomic bomb. This movie had such a creative way of sending a serious message that it inspired me in an artistic way. This movie is a great example of art in the form of cinema. When Godzilla is shown rampaging through Japan and destroying everything in its path, it is a representation of the destruction that the atomic bomb causes.
You should only check out the Japanese version with English subtitles, since the U.S. version, which is known as the butchered version, takes out about 45 min. of the movie. -

Control
Control is the story of the rock band Joy Division, focusing more on the life of the lead singer, Ian Curtis. This movie shows how Ian's personal problems, along with the pressures of his musical career, led him to a path of self-destruction. Ian was a very hard working man, whose dedication to music and the band was very inspiring. Control also had the same effect on me as Taxi Driver, in the sense that I didn't want to end up like the man being portrayed, and in this case it is Ian Curtis.
Even though Ian could not take what was going on in his life, between the pressures of raising a family, a rock star lifestyle, and romance problems, he was still part of a band that created great, unique songs. This story inspired me to never give up on something you believe in. Thanks to Ian's writing, Joy Division have left a mark in the world of rock music that will always live on. -
The Dark Knight
This movie inspired me because of the efforts that were put in to produce such an amazing film. It's film making at its finest, between the screenplay, the director's interpretation of the story, the acting, and the way it was presented. This is the way that Batman was meant to be portrayed and the visuals were great as well. The director also chose to do some scenes in IMAX quality, which were very impressive and difficult to do. This type of film making can inspire you to hone your craft, or at least that's the effect it had on me, in order to produce work of great quality no matter what your craft is.
