i hate long plane rides, and i had just gotten back from my honeymoon, in europe a few weeks prior, so i blew off a chance to see the reunion show, figuring there was about a 70% chance of a tour. Almost every band that plays a full length reunion set in a full arena tours afterwards - if they are going to spend all the time to rehearse, put together a production, etc, why not take it on the road and milk it for some big bucks and pampered glory. Might prove to be one of the biggest mistakes of my life.

only one 90s band in the Top 10, but 2 in the Top 11 isn't as bad as I would have thought. PJ are a better-sounding live band now than they have ever been. They are playing widely different sets night after night. Their studio albums have been lacking the massive hooks of their first 3, but still tend to have 2/3 or so really strong songs, songs which grow on you live and you end up digging like 3 years after the album came out. I really can't say anything negative about Pearl Jam - they were probably my favorite band from 1992-95, and have never really stumbled since. For some reason they went long stretches without playing Los Angeles, though they are coming for 4 nites at the Gibson later this year (i will go at least twice). They also have the distinction of being the most-i-have-ever-spent-on-a-scalped-ticket band, by at least 5X, for the fan club only show (I am a Ten Club member, just got shut out).

After i got Wings Greatest (I was 10 years old) "Junior's Farm" was probably my alltime favorite song-that-I-had-never-heard-on-the-radio. For a few years, this was about the most unsung and original band on the planet. They were so good, that when Nels Cline joined the band and the lineup changed, the prevailing wisdom amongst a number of my friends who were fans was that "Nels Cline ruined the Fibbers". In retrospect, the Butch-era Fibbers were still a great band - just not quite the godhead that was LSBTEAMH-era Fibbers. And as we've seen, Nels Cline does not ruin bands. I'm glad i got the chance to see this band 5 or 6 times, thank you los angeles and virgin records.

I wrestled with the Coldplay/Dimmu ordering for a relatively long amount of seconds. Both have been accused of being posers by others in their community. and there's something i really don't like about the stage mannerisms of either band's singer. In the end, corpsepaint won out.

Easily one of the most unsung bands in my top 200. I am not sure that they will ever get back to their peak of 2004 - 2007, where they released two MONSTER albums "Now Here Is Nowhere" and "Ten Silver Drops" and played some devastating, though sparsely attended, live shows. A personell change has taken them down a notch, though the 2008 record they put out was certainly good, it was definitely a step down from the two previous. And i actually walked out of the last time I saw them live, at the Viper Room (it was late on a weeknight, I was there solo, so maybe i didn't give them much of a chance, but they bored me for a half hour solid)
