The clear best team of the decade. Not only do the Trojans have as many national titles as anyone else this decade, not only do they have the most top 2 appearances, but this is a team that in at least 3 years besides their two titles had the unofficial title of "The Best Team as Season's End". Had the ball bounced a little differently, they would have lapped the field.

Florida's had an incredible run these past few years. Lots of question marks in their f*ture though.

The Texas vs Oklahoma debate is a fascinating one. Oklahoma won 5 Big 12 championships, Texas won 2, how can I put Texas first? Well, they both won the same number of overall games, Oklahoma only won the head to head match up 6 to 4, and Oklahoma had a tendency to disappoint on the biggest stage.

It's tough to put LSU below Texas and Oklahoma. After, LSU has 2 national titles and plays in the supreme SEC. However, LSU has probably the 2 least impressive national titles of the decade. Winning the first only because the coach's were forced to choose the BCS winner over the team they thought was best, and winning the second with 2 losses.

The Buckeyes dominated the Big Ten this decade, but unfortunately by underperforming in big bowl games that not only dropped them out of the top 5 but has given everyone the impression that the Big Ten ain't what it used to be.

The decade opened with them coming within a hair's breadth of back-to-back national titles. It looked like they may dominate college football again like they had done in the '80s. The rest of the decade didn't go so swimmingly, but they still easily earn their place in this Top 10.

Well, you can see here I put a lot of weight in winning national titles, and doing so with a truly great year, because for most of the decade, the Crimson Tide was mediocre. Exciting times for Bama though with the way Nick Saban has energized the program in just 3 years. If I were picking my favorite to be the #1 team of the 10s, it might be them.

Georgia and Auburn grab the last 2 spot, making it 5 SEC teams on this list. This didn't happen because I gave huge boosts to teams just for being in the toughest conference. The causality flows the other way. These two teams really earned it with Top 10 years and great overall records - and that's what makes the SEC so scary.
