Top Five Autumn Must-haves for Women
If you’ve caught any of the London Fashion Week coverage on telly or in the magazines, it’s likely that you’ve been inspired to add a breath of fresh air to your autumn wardrobe. When summer’s over, it can be tempting to wrap up warm and not worry too much about what you’re wearing, but looking fabulous doesn’t have to be seasonal. Four times a year, we can create a whole new look by choosing just a few key pieces that will bring our wardrobes bang up to date. Here are a few of our favourite fashion must-haves for autumn 2012.
- 1
Military coat
The military trend has been a massive hit with designers from Prada to Victoria Beckham, and the great news is that it’s so wearable. A military coat is simple, comfortable, and a brilliant daytime option when teamed with jeans. Go for a simple khaki colour, or look out for the styles with leather sleeves which are hitting the high street. - 2
Peplum cocktail dress
Peplums have been big news during the summer, and that trend is going to continue right through into the autumn and winter. Put away the bright colours though and go for darker, classier pieces. A peplum cocktail dress would make a good investment coming up to the party season. This sort of style is especially flattering and will hide a multitude of sins. - 3
Statement colour piece
A bright handbag or bold scarf can transform a boring outfit and add that much needed splash of colour as the long nights draw in and we start to miss the summer months. Try an oversized bag in your favourite colour, and team with jeans, a shirt and ballet pumps for a casual but striking look. - 4
Leather jacket
Leather never goes out of fashion, but autumn is often a time when it’s especially popular. Versace and YSL have featured leather in a big way on their catwalks, and the current trend swings towards sexy, feminine cuts. A good piece is likely to last you for many years, so make your choice wisely. Total leather is also a massive story for this season. Try it if you dare! - 5
Skinny belt
This is a great look to try, as it requires nothing more than digging out an old belt from the back of your wardrobe. As oversized coats and knits are also featuring heavily on the high street this season, a skinny belt could be just the ticket for trying out these styles whilst also flattering your figure. Burberry and Mulberry have both dressed their models with skinny belts, so who are we to argue?
By choosing just a few new pieces for your wardrobe, you can ensure that you dress to impress this season.
