Travel+Leisure's World's Best Hotels 2011
As part of their World's Best Awards, Travel+Leisure magazine presents the World's Best Hotels for 2011 in this list of the top 25 luxury lodging locations. Using the best places to stay when traveling around the world, the magazine and their readers picked these select few from a list of 500 as the best of the best.
Oberoi Vanyavilas, located right next to Ranthambore National Park & Tiger Reserve in Rajasthan, India, earned the top spot. The lavish hotel features 25 suites, a restaurant, bar and three-room spa, among other luxurious amenities.
2011's best hotels in the world were decided upon by the readers of Travel+Leisure magazine during one of their annual surveys. Readers, who are also screened to make sure they are not affiliated with the travel industry, are asked to score hotels based on rooms and facilities, location, service, restaurants and food, overall value and optional factors such as friendliness to families or those traveling for business. Each of the characteristics, save for the optional factors, are averaged and the scores are tallied to determine the rankings.
Travel+Leisure conducts numerous rankings for travel-related companies, locations and attractions each year. Among many others, Travel+Leisure annually ranks the top large-ship cruise lines and the best cities to visit.
As these places prove, sometimes hotels are a destination of their own, with their fabulous accommodations, great surrounding views and relaxing services. The hotels below are the best of 2011 and should be strongly considered the next time you plan a getaway. You may not even have to step outside of the hotel if you don't want to. Staying there is a vacation all its own.
