Like so many of my lists, this one is less than perfectly well-informed. Like a pudgy college football coach choosing to go for it on 4th and 1 from his own 40 yard line, I'm just going with my gut. Duke, Kentucky, and UNC all go on the list because of how formative they have been in the history of college basketball and in my own conception of the game. The UT's, Texas and Tennessee, have been contenders in all 3 top American sports for years now (other than ultimate frisbee, of course). UConn's basketball teams, men and women, have been a staple for the entire decade. Notre Dame had Knute Rockne, which is historically significant, I guess. And University of Michigan makes it onto the list because my folks went there, and they're the noble half of one of the greatest rivalries ever witnessed in American sports. Ohio State, you can go suck green rocks.
