Want to be taller? There's surgery for that. Want longer eye lashes? There's surgery for that. How about a snake-like tongue? Surgery can take care of you there, too. You can even go under the knife for those dimples you always wanted!
These image-altering surgeries will probably shock you. These are the you ones that, if your friend or loved one was getting you'd scream, "Are you crazy?!" Unless there are extreme circumstances in place, it's hard to figure out why anyone needs these surgeries. But people are crazy, just like these procedures.
Labiaplasty for Yoga Pants
More proof that some people just don't have enough real things to worry about. In 2014 and 2015, a new vagina-centric trend prompted women to get labiaplasty in order to look good in tight fitting clothes like yoga pants. In an effort to "enhance the appearance" of their lady parts, women opted for procedures to reduce the size of the labia minora (the inner lips) of their downstairs areas. How popular did the painful cosmetic surgery become? The American Society for Aesthetic Surgery said there was a crazy 48 percent rise in 2014 from 2013! Adios, camel toe.
Freeze Your Fat and Poop It Out
Want to lose weight quick without the hassle of diet and exercise? Now you can! You just need some high powered cooling plates and a wad of cash. A new procedure called CoolSculpting promises to freeze your fat cells so that you can poop them out!
As part of the process, doctors squeeze your fat between two cooling plates and gradually freeze them. Because fat cells freeze faster than skin cells, you can get perfectly frozen fat before frostbite sets in to ruin your new model-esque body.
After the procedure, docs do a quick massage of the area and you're good to go. White blood cells attack the frozen fat cells and convert them into triglycerides that are then metabolized by the liver and eliminated through your urine or feces. Sounds crazy, but it's actually approved by the FDA!
The downside? You can only freeze small areas at a time, so there's a good chance you won't see a ton of difference on the scale. And it's expensive. The procedure can cost between $400 to $1800 per session.
A Surgery That Turns That Frown Upside Down
As one ages the corners of the mouth drops, making it nearly impossible for senior citizens to turn their frown upside down. By removing heavy skin above the mouth, doctors have found a way to allow Grandma to frown at her children only when she’s disappointed, not 24 hours a day.
Change Your Palm Reading for Good
Don’t like your palm lines or your palm reading? Get it changed! Reclaim control of your own destiny with palm line surgery. Palm line surgery is performed by burning the hand with an electric scalpel that leaves a semi-permanent scar. Anyone who believes in palm readings probably would believe a doctor who says this is safe.
Turn That Innie into an Outie
Some people are self-conscious about their height, breast size, hair color, the list goes on. If you go far enough down that list, you'll find people who are self-conscious about their belly buttons. Umbilicoplasty is most often performed on women ages 35-45 and can be a standalone operation or part of a bigger surgery like a tummy tuck.
Gummies are for Bears, Not Smiles
A gummy smile isn't when you smile with a mouth full of gummy bears. It's when the gums above your teeth are so pronounced they dominate the smile. There's surgery to get rid of that and it's called gingivectomy. There are a number of ways to do the surgery, which range from removing gum to repositioning the jaw entirely.
Perfect Eyelashes are Just a Transplant Away
Sometimes eyelash extensions just don't cut it. Instead an eye lash transplant is in order. Just like a hair transplant, surgeons can use plastic surgery to permanently give a person long, flowing lashes.
Liposuction for the Knees
Liposuction isn't just for belly fat. It can be used just about anywhere on the body. Yes, even the knees. Some people with fat knees get liposuction to remove unwanted flab from the knee. While traditional liposuction procedures can work on the knees, most knee-specific liposuction is done with lasers.
