It could be that my most favoritest guilty pleasure is the consumption of disaster movies. Mostly because of what I learn so that I may be prepared when that next Meteor/Tsunami/Alien Invasion/Tornado/Earthquake/Monster/Climate Change comes along. How else are we going to be ready? I don't see any real guides out there. Who else do we have to turn to except these masterworks? Watch and learn... so the next time your windows start to shake or a giant fireball appears perfectly framed on the horizon, you will know just what you need to do to survive.

This is far from a complete list, Jon routinely pulls back the curtain on the media, but these are some of the most memorable moments for me, personally. There's nothing better than watching someone else actually say and do exactly what you WISH you could do if you had a) the guts, b) the talent, and c) the forum. Jon Stewart is just the man for the job. These are some of the moments that made me howl with joy.

These places are stunning.. bring your pack and head out.

These guys are oftentimes cooler than the guys with the powers and the capes.

You know you can't stand the show when you finally take that ultimate step... a step that means that you hate the show so much now you don't even want to see it as an option on your Now Playing list.

Maybe they seemed like a good idea at first, but now? There comes a time to admit defeat and accept that your city is made of suck.

These people are walking works of art

Culled from early 20th century, since that is clearly the most awesome of time periods for art.

Movies with money, with a cast ... movies that had a director... and yet, were overcooked, overwrought and outright awful.
October 27, 2009
Sorry, consensus. You are WRONG about these films.

Movies that won Best Picture oscars and didn't deserve them.

These guys make a case for "evil" being more than a idealized concept.

If you have kids, you know you are always on the lookout for a movie that they will love and that you can sit through without clawing your own soul out. These are movies that transcend the whole kids-are-idiots-and-therefore-must-be-talked-down-to trap that many moviemakers seem to fall into when it comes to Family Fare.

These flicks get no love from anyone but me. And sure, I'm a little embarrased by SOME of them... but I still watch them every time they come on TV. Some of these are hated on principle... just for the backlash. But I stand by my initial opinion when I saw them... and refuse to back down from my original reaction, despite the mockery. Bring it on!

These are movies you may not have heard of, but should watch. Immediately. Because of the awesome.

These are my favorite movie moments of all time. Maybe not the best moments in the film or even of all time, but MY favorite moments. I know it's a little Spielberg-heavy, but what can I say? The perfectly put-together scene is one of his greatest strengths.

I do love TV. And I love and loved these shows. So. Much.

The Terminator series is a good thing. Really. But if you start thinking about it, it kind of falls apart, as all time travel bullshit will. But after watching Terminator:Salvation, I had to seriously ask the question -- What the Fuck, Skynet? I mean, you totally DESERVE to be blown up at this point.

Coolest costumes... and there aren't many. It's hard to make bright spandex look good.

Shittiest (and luckiest) directors of all time.
October 27, 2009
As much as I like keeping up wih the cultural zeitgeist, these were shows I could never bring myself to watch. Not a single episode.

Saturday morning cartoons. The staple of my childhood. But there was a stink in the flower field... and these characters were responsible. Even as a kid, they made my teeth clench.

We've all been there literally tens of times... when you're watching a movie or a TV show and a new character comes on the screen and the whole story drops to a halt because... there he is: THAT GUY. Who is he? Where have you seen him before? Why can't you remember WHERE YOU SAW HIM BEFORE? And it's not like IMDB can help you because you don't know 'that guys' name. Well, here they are. The top ten 'That guy' guys of screens both large and small.

Episodes that made me question my love for a show... you might even say they made me angry.
