''ÂÂConsidered by some to be Colombia''s greatest living Artist Biography of Colombian Artist, Phillip Witcomb....The Modern Master Phillip was born in Bogota, Colombia, South America in 1962. In 1965 at the age of two English expatriates adopted him from an orphanage in Bogota. He started drawing and painting from a very early age, and in fact, his first ever sale was a portrait, at the age of six. This essentially was the start of his career as an artist. Paintings Phillip''s dazzling oil paintings are a kind of View painting, depicting the scenes as he sees them on his travels. In order to create an incredibly accurate and realistic composition, he visits each scene several times to make detailed studies. This kind of extremely accurate ÃÂÂÂÃÂÂÂView painting follows the traditions of the great Venetian painters of the 18th century. By studying the drawing and layered glazing techniques of the old Venetian masters, Phillip has managed to achieve an almost three-dimensional feel to his paintings. Realism Phillip is a realist In general, realists render everyday characters, situations, dilemmas, and objects, all in a "true-to-life" manner. Realists tend to discard theatrical drama, lofty subjects and classical forms of art in favor of commonplace themes. PhillipÃÂÂÂÃÂÂÂs paintings "tell it as it is" so to speak. He draws what he has seen without any bias added. He simply focuses on what is happening in front of him.
