Albert Carnesale

Albert Carnesale (born 2 July 1936) is an American academic. He is a former chancellor of the University of California, Los Angeles, provost of Harvard University, and dean of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. In November 1994, while serving as Dean and Provost, Carnesale also served as Acting President of Harvard during the medical leave of President Neil Leon Rudenstine. In May 2011, Carnesale was awarded the Harvard Medal for service to the university. He has also been involved in international diplomacy on nuclear non-proliferation.
