And the Word Was..... is one of many reissues of Genesis' first album, From Genesis to Revelation. It includes all tracks from the 1969 album plus the four tracks from the group's first two singles issued in 1968. It was released in January 1987 on London Records. This reissue was released to cash in on the success of Genesis with Invisible Touch and Peter Gabriel with So, as a way to introduce new fans to their early work.
