Andrea Heinemann Simon

Andrea Heinemann Simon (March 24, 1909 - February 15, 1994) was a community leader and mother of award-winning singer, Carly Simon. Born Andrea Louise Heinemann as the second child of Frederick and Elma Heinemann, she was raised in Philadelphia. Her mother was a native of Spain. Heinemann married Richard Leo Simon (March 6, 1899 - July 29, 1960), co-founder of Simon & Schuster, the publishers. At the time of their 1934 engagement, Heinemann worked as a receptionist for the company. This union produced four children: Joanna, Lucy, Carly, and Peter.
