Anthropology  /ænθrɵˈpɒlədʒi/ is a social science that deals with the origins, physical and cultural development, biological characteristics and social customs and beliefs of humankind. It has origins in the humanities, the natural sciences, and the social sciences. The term "anthropology" is from the Greek anthrōpos (ἄνθρωπος), "man", understood to mean mankind or humanity, and -logia (-λογία), "discourse" or "study."
