Archibald Scott Kanon

Archibald Scott Kanon (1878–1915) was an American ragtime composer and pianist. He died in Silver City, New Mexico. It is not known where Archibald Scott Kanon was born. His father (born Gagnon) came from Quebec, Canada, and was a dabbler (business, painting...) who changed his name to Kanon or Canon. Archibald started playing the piano at the age of 6 with a local professor in Louisiana, but was mainly self-taught. His mother died at his birth. He lived with his father, travelling from town to town in the south of USA and practising on a piano built specially for him. His father died in a duel when Archibald was 15.
