Bernard Donoughue, Baron Donoughue

Bernard Donoughue, Baron Donoughue (born 8 September 1934) is a British politician, businessman and author. The son of Thomas Joseph Donoughue was educated at Campbell Secondary Modern School and Northampton Grammar School, Lincoln College, Oxford, where he read History and obtained the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1957, and Nuffield College, Oxford, where he graduated as a Doctor of Philosophy in 1963. Donoughue was member of the editorial staff of The Economist in 1959 and 1960. He was senior research officer of the Political and Economic Planning Institute between 1960 and 1963, and senior lecturer, at the London School of Economics (LSE) between 1963 and 1974.
