Bob Maxwell

Robert W. ("Bob" or "Tiny") Maxwell (September 8, 1883 – June 30, 1922), born in Chicago, Illinois, USA, was an American football player. He played football at Englewood High School in Chicago, at the University of Chicago (1902), and at Swarthmore College (1904–05). He was a star in track and in throwing the discus and the hammer. He played professional football for Canton and Massillon. He was an assistant coach at Swarthmore and the University of Pennsylvania. He was a well-known football official and was sports editor of the Philadelphia Public Ledger. He died on June 30, 1922, at age 38, following an automobile crash.
