Bobby Byrd

Bobby Byrd born Robert Howard Byrd (August 15, 1934 – September 12, 2007) was an American funk/soul/R&B/gospel musician, songwriter and record producer. He was born in Toccoa, Georgia, and is a 1998 winner of the Rhythm and Blues Foundation's prestigious Pioneer Award. He is also noted as the man who founded the famed Rhythm & Blues singing group The Famous Flames, the group with whom James Brown first became famous. In 2012, Bobby will be inducted posthumously and retroactively with the rest of The Famous Flames into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
