Bostan Abad

Bostanabad (Persian: بستان آباد; also Romanized as Bostānābād) is a city in and the capital of Bostanabad County, East Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 16,592, in 3,937 families. It is located 55 kilometres (34 mi) south east of Tabriz, the capital of the province. Mohammad Hossein Behjat Tabrizi commonly known as Shahriyar is one of the most famous poets of Bostanabad. Some people of Bostanabad believe that the current city was built on the ruins of Ujan (or Ojan), the summer capital of the Mongols that disappeared and its name was mentioned in most books of history since the sixth century AH.
