Brandon Herman

Brandon Herman (born 1983, Hillsborough, CA) is a young, contemporary artist based in the U.S. who works in photography, sculpture, painting and video. Herman's creative process involves diligently staged events, often preceded by months of research on a topic of interest, and then scripted, cast and executed with chosen participants. In 2007 he orchestrated a yearlong project inspired by the high profile abductions of Polly Klaas (in the 90s) and Patricia Hearst (in the 70s). The pieces that showed in the resulting exhibition explore the psychological intricacies of the experience of being abducted but often only hint at the elaborate and experiential method of investigation prior.
