Bruce Surtees

Bruce Mohr Powell Surtees (born July 23, 1937) is an American cinematographer, the son of Robert L. Surtees. He is best known for his extensive work in Clint Eastwood films, mostly westerns of the 1970s and early 1980s. His filming style has been compared to that of the Dollars films of Sergio Leone. He began as a camera operator working on Eastwood's films during the late 1960s, his credits including Coogan's Bluff and Two Mules for Sister Sara. He became a main cinematographer in 1971 with The Beguiled in which he worked as director of photography. In 1971 he was director of photography of the acclaimed Dirty Harry. Surtees was nominated for an Academy Award for his filming of Lenny in 1974.
