Dimitriados street

Dimitriados street is the main central avenue of Volos city in Greece. The street was created at 1841 when the first buildings of Volos promenande (Nea Magazia) was constructed. The train of Pilion railway route was designed and finally built along the street in 1882 giving the importance that have until today. Later the city tram operated on the same rail lines bringing citizen from across the city to the centre amplifying its value. The name was given some years later in memory of the city major Dimitriadis. At the beguining of the 20th century several banks-around 36-were situated on the street. Today international brands and shops give a more glamorous view along with the reconstructed neoclassical building of the bell epoch.
