Donald Wheeler

Donald Niven Wheeler (October 23, 1913 - November 8, 2002) was a lifelong social activist, teacher and member of the Communist Party, as well as an accused Soviet spy. Allegations of espionage made against him were never proved, and he was never convicted despite repeated investigations. He was a graduate of Reed College and also attended college in England. He was a brilliant scholar who received a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University, and there, spurred by what he learned through his studies in economics, he joined the university branch of the Communist Party.
