Eagles Greatest Hits, Vol. 1 is the fifth album by the American rock band the Eagles, a compilation of singles released on Asylum Records in 1976. It is the best-selling album in U.S. history, having sold 29,000,000 copies as of January 2009. The years in the album's title, 1971 to 1975, refer to the existence of the band itself, not the release dates of the tracks. For example, the earliest track on this album, the Glenn Frey--Jackson Browne penned, "Take It Easy," was first released on 1 May 1972, a month prior to their self-titled debut album.
