Edmund Spangler

Edmund Spangler (August 10, 1825 – February 7, 1875), also known as Edman, Edward, and Ned Spangler, was originally from York, Pennsylvania, but he spent the majority of his life in the Baltimore, Maryland area. He was an alleged conspirator in the Abraham Lincoln assassination and had worked at Ford's Theatre at the time of Abraham Lincoln's murder. During the Civil War, he came to Washington, D.C. and began working as a carpenter and scene shifter at Ford's Theatre. While working there, Spangler often slept on the premises itself, or in a stable behind the theater.
