Essam Yassin

Essam Yassin Abbas (Arabic: عصام ياسين عباس‎) (born on March 11, 1987 in Iraq) is an Iraqi football player, who currently plays for Baghdad in Iraq. A talented defender that could also play in midfield if needed. Despite being only 22 years of age he has already played for five clubs, including a season in Syria with Al-Horriya and currently plays for high flyers Al-Amana. He played for the Iraq Under-19s in 2005 but failed to make it into final squad for the 2006 AFC Youth Championship in India. The 22-year-old defender made his international debut as recently as 31 May, in a friendly against Qatar, when he was brought on as a second half substitute.
