Gadot

Gadot (Hebrew: גָּדוֹת‎‎, lit. Banks) is a kibbutz in northern Israel. Located in the Hula Valley, it falls under the jurisdiction of Upper Galilee Regional Council. In 2006 it had a population of 381. Founded in 1949 by Nahal youth from HaNoar HaOved VeHaLomed and Holocaust survivors who emigrated to Israel. It was named Gadot due its proximity to the banks of the Jordan River. During the 1950s and 1960s the kibbutz suffered from several assaults by the Syrian army and was hit by many artillery bombardments. On 7 April 1967, when 6 Syrian MiGs were shot down, the kibbutz suffered a severe bombardment during which almost all of its buildings were hit.
