Hazlov

Hazlov (German: Haslau) is a village and municipality in Cheb District in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. In 2008 the village had a population of 1 665. Hazlov lies 12 kilometres northwest from Cheb and 10 kilometres southeast from Aš, about 550 meters above sea level. Through the village flows Hazlovský potok. It neighbour with Lipná to the west, with Táborská to the southwest, with Ostroh to the south and with Vojtanov to the east. To the northeast there is the German border. Hazlov was first mentioned in 1224, as a property of the noble house of Hazlov (Haslau). Bedřich from Hazlov probably build a castle, which is located in the village.
