Henry O. Tanner House

The Henry O. Tanner House is a boyhood home of Henry Ossawa Tanner, who, as an expatriate in Europe, was a successful painter. He studied under Thomas Eakins in Philadelphia. He was one of the most successful African American artists of his day. He lived overseas from 1891 to his death in 1937, visiting the United States only once during that time. It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1976.
