Hidalgo County is a county located in the southwest of the U.S. state of Texas. In 2000, its population was 569,463; in 2007, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated its population to have reached 710,514. The 2010 Census revealed a population of 774,769. Hidalgo County is consequently one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States, and is the seventh most-populous county in Texas.
