Homerton University Hospital

Homerton University Hospital is an NHS-run University Hospital in Homerton, Hackney- East London. The hospital is run by the Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, which was established on 1 April 2004 and is one among the first ten foundation trusts established in England. It is the designated hospital for the 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. Several hospitals existed at Hackney prior to the present hospital at Homerton Row. Hackney’s first hospital was founded in 1280, called the Kingsland Leper Hospital and was one of ten leper hospitals set up in London. It was eventually closed in 1760.
