Hunting Park

Hunting Park is a neighborhood in the North Philadelphia section of the United States city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Like many North Philadelphia neighborhoods, it grew mainly in the 1920s and 1940s. The neighborhood's namesake is large park which is a regular location for recreation for many in the area. John Philip Sousa is rumored to have played in the bandstand there (bands still played there until the early sixties), and a minor league baseball team called the park home; a 'Lake' which was used for renting small rowboats until a city pool was built on the former pier; it also had a ring-catch carousel just south of the center lawn island, and ball fields. it had small wooden concessions stands around the park that sold snacks...
