Ino Yamanaka

is a fictional character in the anime and manga series Naruto. The name "Yamanaka" means "deep in the mountain" and "Ino" means "a wild boar" (this explains Sakura's use of "Ino, you pig!" and "porker" to insult her. In the original Japanese manga and anime, the phrase is "Ino-buta" (￣ﾁﾄ￣ﾁﾮ￣ﾃﾖ￣ﾂ﾿) -- "Buta" means pig). It is ironic in contrast to her teammate Choji's name meaning 'butterfly' as he is the larger of the two. Ino Yamanaka was a genin assigned to Asuma Sarutobi's Team 10. With her teammates, Shikamaru Nara and Choji Akimichi, they make up the 2nd-generation Ino-Shika-Cho Trio.
