Javad Tabatabaei

Dr. Javad Tabatabai (جواد طباطبایی) (born 1964 and raised in Tabriz, Iran) is a political philosopher, historian and university professor. Tabatabai studied law at Tehran University. He then shifted to philosophy and did his doctorate works at Sorbonne University. Tabatabai was a professor of philosophy at University of Strasbourg as well as Tehran University. He was also a visiting scholar at Syracuse University's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. Tabatabai is a member of the Iranian intellectual circle and has contributed to the understanding of Western philosophy in Iran. He is working on a project called Persian modernism.
