Kitanagoya, Aichi

Kitanagoya (北名古屋市, Kitanagoya-shi), or North Nagoya transliterally, is a city located in Aichi, Japan. The city was created as a result of merger of two neighboring towns, Shikatsu and Nishiharu on March 20, 2006. As of March 1, 2008, the city has an estimated population of 80,578 and a population density of 4385.39 persons per km. The total area is 18.37km. The city was founded on March 20, 2006. Two old towns (the town of Shikatsu and Nishiharu) was part of the Kasugai County during the beginning of the Meiji period and were divided into 20 smaller villages.
