Len Weare

Len Weare is a Welsh former professional footballer. He has the distinction of being one of a relatively small group of British footballers to play 500 Football League matches for one club. A goalkeeper, Weare holds the record for the most appearances for Newport County with 525 from 1955 to his retirement as a player in 1970. Weare was selected for Wales international squads but never attained a full cap. After retiring from playing he set up a motorcycle sales and repair shop in the centre of Newport that ran successfully for many years.
