Mícheál Ó Domhnaill

Mícheál Ó Domhnaill (Irish pronunciation: [mʲiːçaːɫ oː dˠɔwnˠɨlʲ]; 7 October 1951 – 7 July 2006) was an Irish singer, guitarist, and composer, who was a major influence on Irish traditional music in the second half of the twentieth century. He became famous for his work with Skara Brae, The Bothy Band, Relativity, Nightnoise, and a successful collaboration with fiddler Kevin Burke. Mícheál Seosamh Ó Domhnaill was born 7 October 1951 in Dublin, Ireland and grew up in Kells, County Meath. His father, Aodh, was a teacher, a singer, and a collector of traditional music for the Irish Folklore Commission. His mother, Bríd, was a choral singer.
