Ningaloo Reef

Ningaloo Reef is a fringing coral reef located off the north west coast of Western Australia, approximately 1200 km north of Perth. The reef is 260 km long and is Australia's largest fringing coral reef and the only large reef positioned very close to a landmass. The word Ningaloo is Indigenous Australian in origin and means promontory or high land jutting into the sea. The Baiyungu peoples have inhabited the area for over 30,000 years.
