The Penn State Nittany Lions football team represents the Pennsylvania State University in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I Football Bowl Subdivision as a member of the Big Ten Conference. It is one of the most tradition-rich and storied college football programs in the United States. On November 22, 2008, after a victory over Michigan State University, Penn State became the sixth FBS program to win 800 games. Hall of Fame coach Joe Paterno was Penn State's head coach for nearly 46 seasons, winning 409 games, more than any other Football Bowl Subdivision football coach.
