Portola Middle School

Portola Middle School is a public middle school in Orange, California, USA. The school was built in 1958 and has almost 2,000 students, consisting of students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades, all following the traditional schedule. It is physically on 270 North Palm Drive and is one of the five middle schools in OUSD (Orange Unified School District). In 1973 "Little" Mary Decker became an international sensation in the world of Track and field athletics while still attending Portola Middle School. Her record for the Mile run, set indoors in a meet against the USSR still stands She went on to a long career, winning two World Championships in 1983 and was in the famous incident in the 1984 Summer Olympics with Zola Budd.
