Raman Singh

Raman Singh (Hindi: रमन सिंह)(born 15 October 1952) is the current Chief Minister of Chhatisgarh, from the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has been chief minister since December 7, 2003. Dr. Raman Singh holds a degree in Ayurvedic Medicine. He joined the Bharatiya Jan Sangh as a youth member and progressed to become a councilor. He was elected to Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly in 1990 and 1993. His career reached a new high in 1999, when he won the Lok Sabha seat from Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. Under Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government, Dr. Singh became the Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry on 13 October 1999.
