Sudzha

Sudzha (Russian: Суджа) is a town in Kursk Oblast, Russia, located on the Sudzha and Olyoshnya Rivers 105 kilometers (65 mi) southwest of Kursk. Population: 6,036 (2010 Census preliminary results); 7,045 (2002 Census); 7,487 (1989 Census). Sudzha was founded in the 17th century as a part of the system of fortifications defending the southern approaches to Moscow. It was granted town status in 1664.
