Verna

Verna (Earlier known as Varenyapur or Varunapur) is a village in South Goa district in the state of Goa, India north to the city of Margao. The new Mahalasa temple is situated in Verna. The old Mahalasa temple was destroyed by Portuguese on 7th March, 1567 and 14th March, 1567. The old idol was shifted to Mardol, Goa. The Padre Conceicao College of Engineering (PCCE) is a private engineering college in Verna. The college is a part of Agnel Technical Education Complex, Verna, Goa and is the first and foremost private engineering college in the state.
