Since the big-screen debut of Iron Man in his self-titled 2008 franchise-starter, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been turning niche characters into household names - and reigniting the popularity of legendary characters from its comic-book pages. Many of the greatest comic book characters of all-time - superhero and otherwise - have been featured throughout the franchise and its many sub-franchises.
